Tommy was originally from South Carolina, at one time he used to be a backing vocalist for Edna Gallmon Cooke, before he moved to New York City. Tommy and his group were based out of Brooklyn, New York throughout the 1960's to the 1990's, Tommy returned to South Carolina with his group by the 1990's.
