SAV A SOUL RECORDSSav-A-Soul Records was a small North Carolina based black owned gospel record label, which released 45's and less lp's through the late 1970's/early 1980's. The label was owned by Bro Al Andres, a gospel singer and song writer, based in North Carolina who recorded for Sav-A-Soul, Jewel records, Jamack Records and HSH Records (HSH and HSE Records were owned by Hot Sullivan, in Nashville); Al Andres recorded with The Mighty Golden Crown, The Lillington Community Concert Choir and also as a soloist. Al Andres is apparently the same singer as Al Anders that sang soul music for the Acclaim label out of Los Angeles in the late 1960's. Bro Andres was a gospel disc jockey with radio station WCKB in Dunn, North Carolina. Sav-A-Soul was originally based in Lillington, North Carolina, then moved to Dunn, finally moving to P.O. Box 32822 Charlotte, NC, 28232 . All songs and rights published under Al-Mike-Cherry Music BMI, An Al Andres Production, phone 892 9504. The label issued mostly local North Carolina groups and singers.
Most 45's and lp's were produced by Bro Al Andres; he wrote all songs on LP 124 and some of the songs on LP 125; he tended to write most of the songs on the 45's recorded by Sav-A-Soul as well, especially for the group The Mighty Golden Crown. The 45's are listed exactly as shown on their catalog numbers, I don't know why the 45's went from 01, 02, 03, 012 then onto 004 onwards. By release 02 the label was based at 202 N.
